Welcome to Puerto Nuevo!

A TRADITION SINCE THE DECADE OF THE 50’S, PUERTO NUEVO IS A SMALL RESTAURANT VILLAGE INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FOR ITS LOBSTER. IT IS LOCATED 30 MILES SOUTH OF THE TIJUANA-SAN DIEGO BORDER.

FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF THIS TRADITION, SANDRA AND LUCHO, BOTH NATIVES OF THIS PLACE AND CHILDREN OF THE FISHERMEN WHO FOUNDED THE TOWN, FIRST OPENED THE DOORS TO THEIR RESTAURANT IN THE SPRING OF 1983.

SANDRA LEARNED THE SECRETS OF THE TRADITIONAL AND HOME COOKING WHEN SHE WAS VERY YOUNG, FROM THE TOWN FISHERMEN’S WIVES, AT THE SAME INCORPORATING A STRONG MEDITERRANEAN INFLUENCE BECAUSE OF THE REGIONAL PRODUCTS, BUT WITHOUT EVER LOSING THE MEXICAN TOUCH AND THE EXCELLENCE OF HER KITCHEN.

LUCHO HAS BEEN A FISHERMAN ALL OF HIS LIFE, AND HE IS AN EXPERT ON SEAFOOD WHO ACQUIRED MUCH OF HIS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES FROM SICILIANS WITH WHOM HE WORKED FOE MANY YEARS. HE HAS CREATED HIS VERY OWN STYLE INCORPORATING ELEMENTS FROM DIFFERENT KITCHENS TO HIS RECIPES.

OUR COOKING IS ALWAYS CHARACTERIZED BY THE RUSTIC TOUCH OF HOME COOKING. WE SERVE THE TRADITIONAL LOBSTER WITH BEANS, RICE, BUTTER AND FRESH, HAND MADE FLOUR TORTILLAS. THIS DELICACY WAS LOCALLY DEVELOPED BY THE FISHERMEN’S WIVES.

WITH MORE THAN 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE, OUR RESTAURANT HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO SOME ORIGINAL DISHES THAT HAVE DISTINGUISHED US FROM THE REST, SUCH AS OUR DELICIOUS SEA SNAIL SALAD WITH DRIED TOMATOES, SCALLOPS AND SHRIMP WITH ONIONS, BREADED CRAB PINCERS IN GARLIC SAUCE, AND MANY, MANY MORE.
